OctiNote Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2025.09.11
This Privacy Policy explains how OctiNote (“the App”) by yang hong seok handles your information.
Summary
- We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data.
- Notes are stored locally on your device using Apple’s Core Data.
- Hidden Notes can be protected with Face ID/Touch ID/Passcode via Apple’s LocalAuthentication.
- We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising, trackers, or a backend server.
Data We Process (On Device Only)
The App processes the following data locally on your device to provide core functionality:
- Note content you write, timestamps (created/updated), and simple flags (pinned, order, archived).
- Lock status for Hidden Notes (enabled/disabled, unlocked/locked state in memory during a session).
- A random lock token stored in the Keychain to require user presence when unlocking (no secrets about you).
None of the above is transmitted to us. Deleting the App removes the local database and the lock token.
Biometrics and Passcode
- The App uses Apple’s LocalAuthentication to ask iOS to verify your identity (Face ID/Touch ID/Passcode) when unlocking Hidden Notes.
- We do not access, store, or receive your biometric data. iOS only tells the App whether the authentication succeeded or failed.
Permissions and System APIs
- Face ID/Touch ID: Used only to unlock Hidden Notes (InfoPlist key: NSFaceIDUsageDescription).
- Keychain: Stores a random token that requires user presence to read; not a personal identifier.
Networking, Analytics, Ads
- No networking with our servers.
- No analytics/telemetry SDKs.
Retention and Deletion
- Your notes remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App.
- Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.
Children’s Privacy
- The App is not directed to children under the age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect any personal information.
Changes to This Policy
- We may update this page. The “Effective date” above shows the latest revision.
